Omar Shute's Biography

Omar Shute is currently the Executive Director of the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC).  CAEDC is responsible for overseeing economic development and tourism in Cumberland County, PA through its two operating units - Cumberland County Economic Development and the Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau.

Omar joined CAEDC in September 2005 after working as a Business Counselor and Loan Officer for the Capital Region office of Community First Fund, a U.S. Treasury certified Community Development Financial Institution.  Besides working at CAEDC, he serves on the boards of the Cumberland County Industrial Development Authority, Capital Region Economic Development Corporation, and the Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce.

Omar Shute holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the John L. Grove College of Business at Shippensburg University.  In addition, Omar holds a Bachelor degree in Business Management and a Bachelor degree in Marketing from Pennsylvania State University as well as an Associate degree in Business Administration from Harrisburg Area Community College.  Omar is fluent in Spanish, is a 2007 winner of the prestigious Forty Under 40 award, and was named by Harrisburg Magazine as one of the 2010 Movers and Shapers.
